Kumrovec Ethno Village, birthplace of Marshall Tito

Ethno-village Kumrovec ist most traditionally decorated place in Croatia. It offers its visitors an authentic look Zagorje village from the early 20th century. With over forty restored buildings of traditional architecture found out how our ancestors lived. Arranged sets speech on customs and daily life of farmers and their families on the one hand, the other showing the various traditional crafts with the residents of the village of Zagorje secured the existence of their families. There are traditional garden and gardens, barns and kotc – everything is made of a rich mosaic of life in the countryside. The birth house of Josip Broz Tito, whoes restored standing birth house prodly stands in the center of the village. In the old school there is a reconstruction of the former classrooms and teachers’ apartment.

Kumrovec is situated in a hilly region 1 hour drive from Zagreb. Come and visit an oper air museum – reconstructed village depicting everyday life of farmers in Croatia, early 1900 – 1950. Several homes are on display i.e. tailors and dressmakers; looms and weavers; bakers; candlestick makers; farmers; clay potters; etc.
At the beginning of the museum, there is the birthplace of Josip Broz Tito, the last Yugoslavian president and Marshall who, in the WW2 led Yugoslavian partisans in the 5 years old war against Nazis. His statue of bronze and a folk school from the 19th century that he had visited are one of the attractions. The village represents a part of the history of our ancestors.
